Albums’ launch : Crowdfunding project

An album of Mozart arias with orchestra
An album of songs

Crowdfunding campaigns have become integral to an artist’s fund raising campaigns to help finance their creative projects. Not only does this assist the artist in raising funds, but it also helps the artist’s visibility to grow to a larger market, attract new audience members and new donors, and assists in building the public interest in upcoming events. The project proposed is an exciting venture for me: I will be recording my first and second album ever!

My career thus far has been as a musician- a singer, and a sound recording engineer. Although I have recorded albums for many other artists over the past 20 years, I have yet to produce one for myself. Producing an album is the next and crucial step in my development as a performing artist, and the first one is a very special project. It will be a recording of the most famous arias for baritone by W.A. Mozart: excerpts from The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Così Fan Tutte and Don Giovanni with orchestra.

Mozart

Examples of pieces that will end up on the album:

  1. Mozart : Rivolgete a lui lo sguardo (Cosi fan tutte)
  2. Mozart : Fin ch‘han dal vino (Don Giovanni)
  3. Mozart : Deh, vieni alla finestra (Don Giovanni)
  4. Mozart : Der Vogelfanger bin ich ja  (Die Zauberflöte)
  5. Mozart : Ein Mädchen Oder Weibchen (Die Zauberflöte)
  6. Mozart : Air du suicide Papagena, Papagena (Die Zauberflöte)
  7. Mozart : Hai già vinta la causa (Le Nozze di Figaro)

Here are some audio clips of classical pieces recorded with piano in recent years :

Rossini : Largo al factotum (Il barbiere di Siviglia)

3 excerpts :

  • Korngold  : Mein Sehnen, mein Wähnen (Die tote Stadt)
  • Fauré : Les berceaux
  • Leoncavallo : Nedda-Silvio (I Pagliacci)

I will be recording with the Sofia Symphonic Orchestra in Bulgaria, and thus I seek your support in this great project that will mark my year of 2016. This recording project is at the heart of my career in opera. I had the chance to perform many roles throughout Europe and America, including Papageno and Count Almaviva. As they are roles I have great expereince and joy singing, I have chosen these special arias that resonate with me as an artist. This will also prove to be an important business opportunity and development for my vibrant career as a a classical music recording engineer in Montreal. I have recorded several times with orchestras in concerts but never as part of a commercial album. It is a unique environment that will allow me to expand and engage corporate clients in Quebec for my recording studio as well as an important point of interest for my singing career. These records will become the center tool of communication and promotion for both my careers paths.

The second recording project has already taken off in Tourneson Studio in Montreal, in collaboration with the pianist Étienne Génier, bassist Hugo Desautels and guitarist-arranger Simon Charrier. We are working original parts and tribute parts, such as the huge singer-songwriter Jean-Pierre Ferland, updated with both a touch of Indie-Rock and Lyricism. This Quebec icon stands out for the size of his orchestrations and melodical shapes he had created. These are the core of the exploration we have undertaken to revive the most beautiful melodies of renowned songwriters, through a single album project.

Within our time with the Sofia Symphonic Orchestra, I will also be recording a concert pianist Étienne Génier performing Schumann’s Piano Concerto and Mozart’s 18th  piano concerto, as well as some original compositions by composer Simon, and some of my own compositions and arrangements of other songs I have scored.

It is an all encompassing project for me that takes place on many levels of my artistry and career. It is an amazing opportunity to work with this fine orchestra, and we ask for help to fund and spread the word of this exciting three part project.

Thank you for your Support !

Chansons

Album of compositions and arrangements by Marc-Antoine d’Aragon and Simon Charrier

We are currently looking for a sound and a musical identity in the studio, which could resemble the work begun on the following rough mix, further below, we made of Jean-Pierre Ferland’s Un peu plus loin. We ask you not to broadcast this recording because it is a demo and a non-final mix of the piece.

Composition : Jean-Pierre Ferland – Arrangement & Production: Simon Charrier – Mixing: Simon Charrier & Marc-Antoine d’Aragon
